A Short Introduction to NAIIAD Modern Jewellery
NAIIAD is a wonderful business that mixes influences from the world around us with strong lines and interesting textures. We’re built on the belief that jewellery is not simply the final touch to an outfit, instead it is a key way to express individuality and personality, a vital part of your wardrobe. We would even go so far to say that a statement piece of jewellery, just like our glass pendant necklaces, should be the starting point of an outfit.
Born in the South of France, our head designer, Letitia, has been inspired by her world travel and her study at the AFEDAP Jewellery School in Paris. Having lived in Paris, Sydney and Ireland, Letitia’s work is inspired by the beauty of nature and the strength of womanhood. Her constant search for different and contrasting shapes has led her to playing with symmetry and asymmetry to create striking metal and glass pendant necklaces, bracelets and rings.
Letitia has combined her skills in metalworking with her skills as a jewellery maker, leaning heavily into ideas of chainmail but adding contemporary lines to create pieces unlike anything that has been seen before.
What is Chainmail Jewellery?
Many probably associate chainmail with armour in the early middle ages, though the technique of creating the chainmail effect is even older, dating back to the 500BC. The fundamentals of the techniques is that small rings are assembled to create a material that is similar to a woven fabric. Chainmail is a fantastically versatile material that allows our head designer to create beautiful modern pieces to suit the 21st century warrior goddess. Our glass pendant necklaces are all made with this technique, evoking memories of bygone years and encouraging the inner warrior of all our customers to rise. Our jewellery pieces are the modern day armour of the working woman.
